Vinyasa

I slept in this morning and stayed in bed with a hot cup of tea and a book. I’m finishing up ‘The Subtle Body’ this weekend so I can tackle one of the many other yoga books languishing on my desk. I have so many! But I think Krishnamacharya may be next. Sorry, Michael Stone, you’ll just have to wait a few days.

I only had a half hour to burn this morning before teaching my noon class so I did the Suryas, the fundamental standing poses, a three-minute-headstand and three lotus poses to finish. No backbends! It felt like a holiday! I was grateful for the opportunity to stretch, though.

Now, I’m doing laundry.

A sign that you may be an Ashtangi:

There’s a bucket full of yoga clothing in the bathtub. Every. Day.

And there are hangers with drying yoga pants, yoga tops, Mysore rugs, wipe rags...hooked everywhere.

Anyone else out there decorate their bathroom with the stylish and appealing ‘Mysore Rug and Lulu’ motif? Please tell me I’m not the only one...

Me! Me!!! It's not my bathroom but my home office that's permanently covered in airing or drying yoga clothes...is there a solution?? I'm going to have to find one soon when I start working from home and my "laundry room" has to be converted back into an actual office!!

Bathroom is too small so I decorate the studio apartment instead :)

Yep, my bathroom shares the same decor!
You should put together a book...You might be an Ashtangi if...

Yes, the laundry has permanently taking over the 'living room'... unless it hasn't, which is a bad sign and means I'm behind!

Actually laundry is about the ONLY thing I managed to achieve this weekend, but I had a nice time :)

I have clothes hanging everywhere all the time but I don't use the Mysore rugs. I just use the Pure towels :) All I need is the small size towel to place under my hands, especially for all the arm balances of the weekday practices...

Um, yes. yoga clothes hanging to dry right now in the shower... : )

You guys are all awesome. ;-)

Clearly, I'm thinking too 'small' in just decorating my bathroom with yoga clothes. I should definitely branch out into the rest of the apartment!!!

@Mel
You might be okay with laundry hanging in the office as long as you don't have client meetings in there. And nothing drips on your work ;-)

@Christine
That's an idea! Someone should put together a website called 'Things Astangis like'. It could include bucket-laundry, croissants, heavy black yoga mats and workshops with beach proximity. :-D

@Susan
There are definitely days when my yoga-laundry is my single biggest accomplishment. lol

@Boodi
Now THAT would be a 'full service' shala! Yoga towel service! It would be awesome. A fresh towel to use every time you walked in and then just throw it in the hamper after practice. None of this business of hauling a Mysore rug with the yoga mat, or washing the silly thing every couple days.

Unlimited towels at Pure. Sometimes I use two small ones for practice and two big ones (when washing hair) for getting ready for work.

If I could just hook up with someone who lives in the UWS my life would be near perfect!
