I found ...I think everybody's body is so different. I found that I feel so much better during that week with vigorous practice, especially handstands. I also found that when I was pregnant, backbends and inversions were delicious and stable. Go figure!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5796354866116498246.post-35088442227259025352008-01-10T14:43:00.000-08:002008-01-10T14:43:00.000-08:00Hi there! New reader here. I've gotten back into the practice over the past couple of months after a hiatus, and it's been really neat looking at the older posts and seeing how your practice has developed over time. I sure hope it does for me too, some of the poses I used to do are taking a long time to come back. I know it's not supposed to be about that, but sometimes it's hard to remember that!

Now that I *almost* practice daily I really look forward to the holiday. I used to resent it and would often practice anyway, but that doesn't work for me at all anymore. I find non-yogic physical activity to be soothing, however, like a little run or a bike ride. To each their own, I suppose! :)Carahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13454873057338052133noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5796354866116498246.post-10873039888645196342008-01-10T10:44:00.000-08:002008-01-10T10:44:00.000-08:00I agree with you - it's not good to practice durin...I agree with you - it's not good to practice during this time of month. I advise my students that the body is going through enough stress and trauma during the menstrual cycle without adding yoga (or, for me, any other workout) to the mix.

That said, it was fascinating to do a vigourous practice during my time of month and experience all the reasons I advise against it. Usually, I feel strong and enlivened after my daily practice, but today, not so much.

I'm enjoying the challenge of WoMoPracYo (and I'm learning so much from this experience!), but I'm also looking forward to a restful yoga month in February, with regular breaks on Saturdays and Moon Days and a few days off for my 'lady's holiday.' :-)Kaivalyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08706519542278960007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5796354866116498246.post-31070792063548784692008-01-10T08:13:00.000-08:002008-01-10T08:13:00.000-08:00Oh man, I could never do a vigorous practice durin...Oh man, I could never do a vigorous practice during those days. I would say "good for you" but... I don't think it is good to practice on these days. Who am I to comment though? You are the queen of yoga in my eyes. :)Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16565974219676416897noreply@blogger.com
